EVALUATION OF POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS CONTAMINANTS IN ANTI-VIRAL HERBAL PRODUCTS USED IN CLINICAL PRACTICE

Objective: The main objective of this research was to collect information for consumers and practitioners marketed non-registered preparations. According the World Health Organization (WHO) (1998), only arsenic, cadmium, lead have maximum acceptable concentrations in starting materials 1.0, 0.3, 10 ppm, respectively. allowable limits toxic heavy metals raw herbal medicines (ppm) according WHO (2007) are 0.5, 2 ppm mercury chromium. Methods: use an atomic absorption spectrophotometer used determine buildup such as arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), (Pb), (Hg), cadmium (CD) commercialized formulations India. A total ten samples containing Swertia chirata, Triphala, Haridra, Daruharidra, Kantakari, Brhati, Karcura, Sunthi, Marica, Pippali were selected research. Results: results survey show that levels exceeding allowed unlicensed preparations been found plant-based studied. coded AV1, AV2, AV7, AV8 be contaminated by (As) AV4, AV6, AV8, AV9 (Pb) levels. Herbal AV3, level AV5, AV9, AV10. Conclusion: This work shows metal content has formulations. Because these accumulate body, they can damage delicate organs patient.
